Process Log # 4: Fuse Glass Studio

This week we went back to Lisa’s workshop, Fuse Glass Studio, to look at how our glass work from last week came out of the kiln, but first a quick recap:

    • The type of glass working Lisa does is called warm glass, which means the glass is heated using a kiln. (Unlike glass-blowing which is considered hot glass working–done at way higher temperatures)
    • One of the processes we learned (and I chose to do for mine) was fusing–in which pieces of glass are melted together by either lying pieces on top of each other or next to one another. The pieces generally hold their shape, unless they shrink inward or out to comply with the “6cm rule”
    • Other people used draping as a way to work their glass (by draping it over mounds of sand)
